Mercury could be present in low concentrations in natural gas, synthesis gas and various petrochemical and refinery feedstocks

Mercury is often removed from these gases to comply with environmental and occupational health regulations and to prevent corrosion in aluminum heat exchangers used in the production of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

SulfaTrap™-M series sorbents offer a cost-effective solution to remove mercury, arsenic, and selenium from gaseous and liquid feedstocks. SulfaTrap™-M1 is a physical sorbent that removes elemental, oxidized, and organic forms of mercury to less than 0.1 ng/m3. The sorbent works well in the presence of high concentrations of moisture and sulfur compounds. SulfaTrap™-M2 removes mercury and other metals such as arsenic and selenium. The sorbent works at temperatures up to 300°C to reduce the total metal content to parts per trillion levels. The sorbents consist of high surface area carbons grafted with surface function groups to selectively remove mercury and other trace metals.

  • High Selectivity

High selectivity towards mercury– Minimal hydrocarbon adsorption

  • High Uptake Capacity

    >12% wt. Hg uptake

  • Rapid Kinetics

Works effectively at short gas-solid contact times, and shallow beds designed for low pressure drop

  • Highly Efficient

High removal efficiency for all forms of Hg, including Hg0, HgO and other oxidized forms of mercury (e.g., HgCl2)

  • Moisture Tolerance

    Highly tolerant to moisture

  • Applications

Applicable to natural gas, LPG and synthesis gas
