The SulfaTrap™-SO - a Unique Sorbent/Catalyst Blend that Achieves Deep Purification of Cathode Air Intake
Cathode air intake may contain contaminants such as sulfur oxides (SO2, SO3) and carbon monoxide (CO) that can poison the electrocatalyst.
These impurities are of particular importance in transportation systems where nearby combustion engines release contaminants harmful to the fuel cells.
Ambient Temperature Operation
High Selectivity
High selectivity to all airborne sulfur species, including:
- Sulfur oxides (SO2, SO3)
- Hydrogen sulfide (H2S)
- Mercaptans (e.g., CH3SH, C2H5SH)
High Removal Efficiency
Sulfur concentration is reduced to less than 5 ppbv
High Capacity
Long Operating Life
Moisture Tolerance
High tolerance to moisture and CO2
Easy Disposal
No flammability, toxicity or pyrophorocity
SulfaTrap offers full service engineering, design and construction services including modular fabrication, field services and material and process support.
SORBENTS FOR FUEL CELL PROTECTION
SulfaTrap™-SO
The SulfaTrap™-SO is available as pellets, granules or in honeycomb structure engineered to minimize pressure drop. In addition to the sulfur sorbent, this material uses an ambient temperature catalyst to oxidize CO, formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to CO2 to provide protection to the Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) fuel cells.
